Sales Recruiting Success: Finding the Right Regional Sales Professional in Just Seven Weeks

Our Experience Is Your Advantage
Finding the right sales professional requires more than matching qualifications to a job description. It takes industry knowledge, an understanding of the client's business, and a strategic recruiting process to identify candidates who can deliver long-term results.
When a leading international manufacturer of assembly technologies needed to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market, the company turned to Sales Recruiters, Inc. to identify an experienced, driven, and career-oriented Regional Territory Sales Representative.
This marked the second opportunity for Sales Recruiters to partner with the company, building on an established relationship and shared understanding of its hiring needs.
The Challenge: Finding Specialized Sales Talent
The client was seeking an accomplished Regional Territory Sales Representative to manage and grow its business throughout Ohio.
The ideal candidate needed at least three years of outside sales experience managing a state or regional territory, along with specialized knowledge of assembly technologies and distribution channel management.
The role required a professional who could successfully navigate solution-based selling relationships with both distributors and manufacturing facilities.
Target industries included:
-
Medical manufacturing
-
Electronics
-
Department of Defense
-
General industrial manufacturing
Beyond technical expertise, the client wanted a motivated sales professional who could build relationships, identify growth opportunities, and contribute to the company's long-term success in the U.S. market.
Our Approach: A Targeted, Strategic Search
With a clear understanding of the client's expectations, Sales Recruiters launched a focused recruitment effort to identify qualified candidates.
Our team evaluated 88 candidate resumes, carefully reviewing professional experience, industry background, and alignment with the position's requirements.
From that initial pool, we conducted 14 candidate interviews, evaluating sales experience, territory management capabilities, communication skills, and overall fit.
Following our screening process, we identified five qualified candidates who met the client's requirements and presented them for consideration.
The client agreed to interview all five.
Navigating the Interview and Selection Process
The client's interview process began with the Director of Sales, followed by additional conversations with the Vice President and a final interview.
Two candidates emerged as particularly strong contenders, successfully advancing through the interview process.
After the final interviews, the client extended an offer to its preferred candidate.
However, recruiting doesn't always follow a perfectly predictable path.
The first candidate ultimately made the difficult decision to accept an offer from a larger company that he believed better aligned with his career goals.
Fortunately, our recruiting process had already identified another highly qualified professional whom the client felt equally confident could succeed in the position.
Rather than restarting the search, the client was able to move forward with its second choice and extend an offer.
Following successful reference and background checks, the selected candidate provided two weeks' notice to his current employer and began his new role.
The Results: A Successful Hire in Seven Weeks
