The role focuses on building and managing relationships with key players in the Chicago architectural community to drive sales and grow sales pipeline. My client is seeking dynamic candidates who are experienced with architectural acoustics and can deliver tailored presentations, manage industry partnerships, and promote inclusive sourcing practices—all while representing the company's brand and monitoring market trends.

Responsibilities

Key Performance Objectives (What Success Looks Like In The Position)

  • Establish, manage, and grow a database of architectural firms in the Chicago market.
  • Build relationships with architects, specifiers, developers, and project managers 
  • Deliver compelling presentations and product education tailored to the architectural/design community.
  • Leverage existing leads and pipeline to close $1M+ in sales within the first year.
  • Build a scalable and sustainable sales model to generate $6–$8M in annual revenue in the Chicagoland territory.

Other Responsibilities and Functions:
  • Build and develop the community of builders, project managers, and architects in the Chicagoland area.
  • Manage relationships with distributors, general contractors, and design-build firms.
  • Respond to inbound email inquiries and architectural substitution requests in a timely, professional manner.
  • Identify and engage with early-phase projects requiring acoustic panels, including tenant improvements and spec-driven developments.
  • Represent the company’s brand, mission, and values in all architectural and design engagements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for inclusive sourcing practices within the A&D community.
  • Monitor and report on market trends, competitor activity, and opportunities to align with inclusive design or social procurement initiatives.
  • Attending or regularly participating in NeoCon trade show and community members
  • Connects with key players in the commercial design community, including designers, and architects.
  • Strong sales background in the workplace, healthcare, hospitality, retail, education, public spaces, and government sectors within the FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) industry including movable items like chairs, desks, and lamps that enhance functionality and aesthetics but aren't part of the building structure.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in business to business outside sales, business development, or consultative B2B sales.
  • Experience with architectural acoustics would be strongly desired.
  • Strong network and understanding of the architectural, design, and construction ecosystem in the Chicago area.
  • Acoustics knowledge, building materials expertise, experience with architectural calls, ability to generate leads and manage short-term specs.
  • Sales cycle understanding, territory management, distribution model familiarity, and ability to address specific product needs in construction and material supply chains.
  • Preferred practical experience over academic degree; value orientation, ease of installation expertise, and quick adaptability to company systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills..
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a proven track record of sales success.
  • Hunter mentality, ability to actively listen, confidence to ask for the sale, strong interpersonal connections, empathy, and relationship management.
  • Persistent without being obnoxious, tenacious, showing resilience, likable personality, and innovative thinking to adapt in business.
